Beaches

With 120 miles of coastline, there are over 30 miles of sandy beach on Maui for you to choose from. Most of Maui’s beaches have white sand, but you can also find black and red sand beaches. Here is a list of beaches in the Kapalua area, and surrounding areas for you to enjoy:

Kapalua Beaches

Oneloa Beach
White sand beach fronting our Bay Villas and stretching to The Ironwoods. Favorite for body boarding, swimming, and just laying out in the sun in a secluded setting.

Kapalua Bay
Kapalua Bay was the first beach ever to be named “America’s Best Beach” (in 1991). Gorgeous tropical beach, offering swimming, excellent snorkeling and diving

D.T. Fleming Beach
Named “America’s Best Beach” in 2006, also recently rated in the Top 5 Best American Beaches. Long white sand beach great for running, body boarding, snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, includes picnic tables and restrooms.

Honolua and Mokule’ia Bays
Honolua Bay and Mokule’ia Bay, just north of Kapalua Resort, have been protected by the State since 1978. Honolua Bay is considered a Marine Conservation District, in an effort to protect the island’s unique ocean resources. Fishing is strictly prohibited. Honolua Bay is an excellent place to snorkel in the summer, but do so very carefully and cautiously so as not to disrupt the underwater gardens of corals and amazing marine life.

Napili Bay
Beautifully calm bay, with soft white sand, great for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking.

Kaanapali Beach
“Dig Me Beach” named “America’s Best Beach” in 2003. Long stretch of white sand beach fronting resorts, shopping and restaurants. Activities include snorkeling, diving, beachwalk, jetski rides, parasailing, sailboat and catamaran ride.

Launiupoko Beach Park
Great surf spot, with natural pool surrounded by a lava rock wall, picnic tables, restrooms.

Puamana Beach County Park
Nice hang out spot, good for swimming, surfing, includes picnic tables, restrooms, grills, grassy park.

Wahikuli State Park
Calm water for swimming, snorkeling, with restrooms, picnic tables, and grills

South Maui Beaches

Mai Poina ‘Oe Ia‘u Beach Park
Popular spot for kite-surfing and windsurfing, includes picnic tables, showers and restrooms, and winter whale sightings.

Kama‘ole Beach Parks I, II and III
Grassy lawns, picnic areas, swings, showers, lifeguards, volleyball courts and great conditions for swimming and body boarding make the Kamaole Parks favorites for family fun.

Keawakapu Beach
Classic sunset views, beautiful white sand beach, great for walking, swimming, body boarding, and beach lounging.

Makena Beach State Park
Also known as Big Beach, one of Maui’s signature beaches with crystal clear waters, and a huge expanse of undeveloped white sand beach, experience the awesome sight of seasonally large shore breaks for experienced body boarding and skimming.

Maluaka Beach
Adjacent to the Maui Prince Hotel in Makena, excellent swimming and snorkeling, and an abundance of green sea turtles.

Mokapu Beach Park
Beautiful views, excellent swimming and snorkeling.

Ulua Beach Park
Adjacent to Mokapu Beach, a favorite for swimming, snorkeling, walking and sunset views.

Polo Beach
Another excellent beach for swimming and snorkeling, named “America’s Best Beach” in 1999.

Wailea Beach
Fronting the Grand Wailea hotel, excellent swimming and beach going for the whole family. Great for ocean activities, with restrooms and equipment rentals nearby, a water trampoline, and a paved beach walk past Wailea’s first-class hotels, restaurants and shops. Named “America’s Best Beach” in 1999.

Central Maui Beaches

Kanaha Beach Park
Famous worldwide for excellent windsurfing conditions, but also offers good swimming, large grassy areas for picnics, barbecues, volleyball, and more. Lifeguards, restrooms, showers and picnic tables available.

North Shore Beaches

Baldwin Beach Park
Stunning unobstructed ocean views, warm white sand for laying out, popular spot for walking, jogging or running, ocean conditions great for body boarding and surfing, includes lifeguards, restrooms and picnic tables. On one end you’ll find what’s known as “baby beach” – a reef-protected swimming area popular with the families.

Paia Bay
More stunning north shore views, white sand, popular spot for body boarding and surfing. It’s proximity to Paia town make it a great spot for a morning or afternoon at the beach, and then a nice walk into town for a bite to eat or some shopping.

Ho‘okipa Beach Park
World-famous spot for professional surfing and windsurfing, contests are regularly held here, and winter surf can be a sight to see.

Wai‘anapanapa State Park
Calm and mesmerizing ocean front locale overlooking a black sand beach. Camping, cabins, restrooms and picnic areas are available. Permits are required for camping/cabins.

Red Sand Beach
Volcanic red sand and good swimming and snorkeling – challenging to reach.

Hamoa Beach
Raw natural beauty, named one of ten “America’s Best Beaches” in 2006, crystal clear, refreshingly crisp waters, great for swimming and body surfing.
